Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate gives voice to the views of the faculty on academic and professional matters, facilitates participation of the faculty in forming the policies of the University, and makes the collective experience and knowledge of the faculty available to the University administration and broader community.
Faculty Senate Officers
President
Professor Kevane serves as President of the Faculty Senate, where he presides over Senate and Council meetings and acts as an ex officio member of the University Coordinating Committee. His leadership priorities include a proactive, faculty-led agenda-setting process, the dissemination of white papers on key institutional issues, and the adoption of a "consent calendar" to streamline governance. With over 29 years of academic service, Professor Kevane has held extensive leadership roles, including Economics Department Chair, LSB Assessment Director, and membership on numerous university-wide and school-level committees dedicated to budget, curriculum, and faculty governance.
President-Elect
Associate Professor Kennedy oversees Faculty Senate Committee elections, in partnership witht he Collaborative Governance Specialist, and serves as an ex officio member of the University Budget Council. As President-Elect, she is committed to fostering a Senate that prioritizes substantive inquiry, resource clarity, and the effective translation of faculty concerns into actionable decision-making.
