Virginia Ramos

Lecturer

Virginia Ramos is a Spanish and American poet, and scholar. She earned a PhD in Comparative Literature from Stanford University and is the former Managing Editor of Mantis, A Journal of Poetry, Criticism and Translation. Her essays, poems and reviews have appeared in several publications in the US and Europe including Contemporary Developments in Emergent Narratives by Santiago de Compostela University Press, Americanized Spanish Culture: Stories and Storytellers from Dislocated Empires by Routledge, 80 mph: Bilingual Anthology by Grady Miller Books, “Life and Lyricism in Contemporary Narrative; Emotion, Mood, and Genre as Global Perspectives” in Theory Now Journal in 2023, and “Mapping Literature in the Age of AI” in Comparative Woman in 2024. Her first book length collection ARC was published in 2024 by Grady Miller Books and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the Four Quartets Award. She is the editor and contributor to the volume of Applied Humanities and the Active Life of Literature by np: press (2025). She is an elected Executive Council Member for the Modern Language Association, 2023-2027.

Research interests

My research interests center on multi-genre texts, lyrical novels, and poetry. I work in Spanish, English, French and German literature. My recent research focuses on Humanities in the Age of AI, as well as lyricism, temporality, consciousness and globalization.
