What are you doing this summer? This summer I worked as a social media intern for the Harwich Mariners, a baseball team that's a member of the historic Cape Cod Baseball League, a top summer league for college players. I managed the team's social media channels, creating and posting content throughout the season to reach a wider audience and promote the players' performances for their colleges and MLB teams as draft prospects.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. Two life lessons that I learned this summer that I will carry forward are to always ask questions and never be afraid to do so, and never feel intimidated or not qualified. You are in the rooms you are in for a reason, and people want to hear your opinions and insight.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? My most memorable part of my summer experience was winning the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship! It was incredible to be able to have the opportunity to capture the energy and perseverance behind this team in this moment, and experience the excitement first-hand. This truly felt full-circle after all the hard work the organization as a whole put in during the season!
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities?
The best advice I could give is to put yourself out there and apply to as many opportunities as you can because you never know what will come back. I applied to my dream internship without any experience in this field, and I trusted my passion and drive to shine through in the interview process.
