Professor Xiaojing Dong is a Professor of Marketing and the Faculty Director of the Master of Science in Marketing at Santa Clara University.
Professor Dong’s research focuses on leveraging data science and artificial intelligence to understand how business decisions influence customer behavior and to evaluate how to improve those decisions based on that understanding. Her work draws on interdisciplinary perspectives in marketing, data science, and technology to address emerging challenges in data-driven decision-making.
Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, and Quantitative Marketing and Economics. She also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Research and the Journal of Management Analytics.
Professor Dong was among the early faculty members to develop and teach Marketing Analytics courses for MBA students, integrating machine learning and AI technologies into marketing strategy and decision-making. Building on more than a decade of teaching experience, she recently published Marketing Analytics and Data Science: Models and Tools, a textbook that provides a comprehensive treatment of analytical models and emerging data science and AI tools for marketing applications.
Drawing on her interdisciplinary expertise, Professor Dong also played a leading role in designing and launching the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at Santa Clara University, among the early programs of its kind in the United States.
Professor Dong holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tsinghua University, a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University.
